So, now that I have done all the googling, had a little help from my techie husband, and put all the pieces together, I will save you the trouble of searching for hours. (Feww)
What will you need?
1. The first thing you want to do is create your custom tabs, whether in Photoshop or a more simple photo program like Picmonkey. When you are done, save them as a .png (if you want a transparent background) or .jpg (as any other typical image)- it will depend on what your tabs look like. Make sure you consider the width of your sidebar when sizing your tabs, so that they aren’t too big or small- looking funky or unreadable. (Once you save each one, you don’t want to have to go back and redo all of them!)
2. If you don’t already have an online place to store your photos for sharing, create an account. I use photobucket.
1. To start, we are going to go to our blogger home page, and click on “layout” towards the bottom of the column on the left side of the page.
<a href=imagewilllinktothissource><img src=”imagesource” alt=”nameofblog” title=”nameoftab” width= 270 align=middle vspace=5 /></a>Let me briefly walk you through what these codings mean, incase something doesn’t match up for you exactly.
<a href = the direct url page that you want your tab/image to take you to ><img src = “the direct link url to your image which is in your online photo storer/sharer (such as photobucket)” alt=”your blog name (although this isn’t really important)” title=”should be before the title of your tab (when the mouse scrolls over the tab image, it will say what you write here)” width= number of pixels wide you want your image to show align= where you want your tabs to hover (left, right, or middle) vspace= number of pixels you want to separate the vertical space between your images /></a>
Now that you understand, replace those spaces with your information that’s personalized for your blog.
If anything doesn’t seem to work, I’m absolutely happy to try to answer your questions, as I know how frustrating HTML can be at times!
Happy Pretty Tab Making!
