Don’t you love Ikea hacks?
I’m always nesting, simplifying, and organizing our things, and since our move, we stopped using the simple little spice racks we bought from IKEA, because there wasn’t a good spot for them in our new kitchen. While rummaging through things that have been boxed away, I came across the racks again and couldn’t help but think that they could be used for so many different things! And, I spotted a possibility…
Being in need of a towel holder for the bathroom, and also desiring a shelf above it- for the purpose of putting a picture, a vase of eucalyptus, or any little things as such- I thought, why not just flip this over?
- IKEA Bekväm Shelf
- Screw Driver
- 2 flat tacks
This is really so simple! All I had to do was unscrew the metal attachment holes in the back of the rack, flip them upside down, then screw them back in, so that I could hang the rack upside down.
For added support, I added a flat tack into the shelf on the bottom back corners against the wall, to keep the shelf sturdy and straight, as it naturally hangs a bit loose in the holes.
As simple as that!
Certainly the spice rack wasn’t intended to be a shelf as such, so it’s not built with ideal heavy duty durability. But, for the time being, it is a great solution. And looks adorable for the price!
Isn’t great to find new uses for the things you’ve stored away?
